To visualize different situations in which users might engage with the proposed solution, the storyboarding tool was used. This particular scenario highlights the challenges recruiters encounter during the candidate selection process.

Insights

Introducing Interactive Tutorials: The users want the platform to guide them through its key functionalities with engaging tutorials, including video demos and interactive walkthroughs, to enhance familiarity and ease of use.


Enhanced Progress Tracking: Users wanted visual progress indicators, such as progress bars or checklists, particularly during multi-step processes like profile completion or interview setup, providing a clear view of their progress and remaining steps.


Customized User Dashboard: Users wanted personalized dashboard displaying crucial information like upcoming interviews and actionable items.


Instant Notifications for Key Updates: notifications to alert users about significant events, like profile views by companies or new job opportunities matching the users profile.

The 1: A One Way Interview Platform

Project Overview

“THE 1” is a one - way pre screening tool which employers use to determine if the candidate should move forward to the next round of interviews.In this way the applicants have to record a video of themselves and answer the questions asked by the recruiters. The applicants can submit theapplication as per their time convenience

Problem Statement

As a recruiter or hiring manager, when conducting the recruitment process, I want to efficiently evaluate a large pool of candidates while maintaining fairness and reducing biases, so I can identify the best talents irrespective of their background or location. However, traditional interview methods are tedious, time-consuming, and often influenced by unconscious biases, potentially impacting fair and efficient hiring."

Surveys

We created two separate Google Forms surveys, one for applicants to gather their views and another for recruiters to understand their perspectives. We distributed these surveys through platforms such as Reddit and Facebook. Significant insights from these surveys are:

Dashboard includes all the necessary information including performance statistics, new job opportunities, updates, and other messages and alerts

Application Process

The application process is very simple with just few steps. It starts with a system generated demo and then the actual application process to help users in the navigation and accessibility. The progress bar will help in navigation and keep the users motivated to complete the process

A demo will be given to help the user to preview the process of applicaation

Application Summary to review before submitting it. There are editing options at this step for the users

Interface designed in clean minimal way for easy navigation and accessibility

Last step of the application is to select the availability for the round of interview.

Recruiters Dashboard

Dashboard includes all the necessary information including applicants’ details, new job posting analytics, meeting schedules, etc.

Lessons and Next Steps

There are numerous competing one-way interviewing web applications  available, so focusing on features that solve the major issue of saving users time was vital in having a conceivably successful product. I believe that The 1 has excellent potential to help applicants and recruiters find a way to complete their process easily and efficiently.


Working with the team was an enjoyable experience. To manage our project deliverables we began our meetings doing the SCRUM method, which emphasized teamwork, accountability, and iterated progress toward our project goals. We found this framework very useful as it kept us on track during tight deadlines.
